Mirabel Madrigal
Encanto has quickly become my new favorite Disney movie/the first one I’ve really enjoyed since Tangled. I loved the story, the characters and all the colors! Mirabel was my favorite and I adore the design of her costume with all the hand embroidery showcasing her talent and personality. It was only a matter of time before I’d try to recreate it myself.

My favourite part of Mirabel’s costume is the skirt because no matter which angle you look at it from, there’s always something interesting to see on it. That’s why I love photos such as this one from virgiprincess – its has fun movement and also showcase a part of the embroidery that you’d not usually see.

This interpretation of Mirabel by alliedesantis is so much fun! I love how it’s not an exact replica but has some of her own flair mixed in to the details, especially on the shirt (foreshadowing for mine later). And how adorable is this picture taken with her actual mum?

I love Jessy_kailou’s Mirbael so much I had to feature two photos form them, because I couldn’t not show off all the months of work that went in to hand embroidery/needle punching on the skirt. As someone who also hand embroidered the skirt I know how much effort went in to it and theirs is gorgeous.

I am always in awe at people who can crochet. I try to teach myself every year and every year and I can not figure it out. So of course I am absolutely blown away by transatlanticcrochet’s incredible take on the character. I can only imagine how long it took to create.

As someone who also hand embroidered their costume I can truly appreciate all the time and effort that goes in to making it. Kiwininamori has done an amazing job on theirs too, the colors are just perfect.

I love the unique way that philipodango tackled the icons on the skirt. They cut the shapes/images from felt! It’s genius and so effective. Not to mention what a time saver!

I haven’t been able to find any other Kiwi’s who have cosplayed as Mirabel yet sadly but I will update this as soon as/if someone does. Until then please enjoy my Mirabel.
