It’s just under two moths till my big event of the year – Auckland Armageddon Expo, Spring edition and I’ve tweaked/finalized my lineup.

As you can see, I’ve added Barbie to Friday as I realized I never wore her to a convention in New Zealand and it will be a nice and easy one to do on the preview evening while I get my shopping done. I’ve had the sheet set in my stash to make it again since 2023 and it felt nice to finally pull it out.
I’ve also changed up which Harley I’ll be doing on the Monday. I swapped it for this version as I think it’ll be easier to make in the time frame I’m working with, even though there’s like a million ruffles and layers to it.
As for progress, here’s what Ive got started so far.

I’ve made the base bodysuit for the Charli xcx dress which was the easy part. I still don’t know how I’m going to go about all the ruffles/make the shawl piece. I’m scared.
Barbie is just about finished. All it needs doing is to hem the skirt, add bows to the straps and finish the belt. But I need the buckle to arrive before I do that.
As a funny side note, I didn’t bother filming the making of of the Barbie dress as I’d made it before and didn’t plan on doing anything differently. Cue me doing almost everything differently, especially the skirt. This time the pleats have been done correctly so that the gingham checks are all going in the right direction. Plus look at all the pattern matching I’ve done, I’m so proud of it.
Most of the next two months will be dedicated to figuring out the parts of the Charli outfit that I don’t understand. I’m not worried about Frodo or Harley because to me, they’re nice and simple and not really something I have to draft or alter patterns significantly for.
I’ve also just noticed that I’ve book-ended the weekend with Margot Robbie costumes, which was unintentional.
If you guys have any ideas for the shawl bit of Charli, I’d love to hear them!
Until next time,
