Yesterday I soon realised that the date was May 3rd. May 4th follows and is a day that celebrates all things Star Wars because “May the force (4th) be with you”. You get it.

I knew immediately that I wanted to make a dress to celebrate the day and needed something I could put together relatively simply in a day. Simplicity S8946 is a delightful pattern to use and is quickly becoming one of my all time favourites and it fit the quick sewing project perfectly.

I had no issues putting the dress together, the pattern is so easy and straightforward to follow. The only problems I ran in to were of my own making. The dress was cut to a size 12 and my bust and arms are not a 12.
I had originally intended to make this one with sleeves like the last one I made but after sewing the sleeves together I tried them on before attaching them to the dress and they were too small. So the dress became sleeveless which as you can see in view D, they have an option for doing. It was basically just putting some bias tape on and folding and sewing it to the inside.
As for the bust, well, because I wasn’t keeping it for myself I just squeezed myself in for the sake of these photos. Who needs to breathe right?!

One thing I did differently though was the addition of pockets! All dresses need pockets.
