I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to start writing my weekly blog roundups again and have come to the conclusion that Monday shall be the best time to post them. I’m usually home on that day and can round up the previous week better and more consistently than I have been doing on Sundays.
Anyway~
As this is the first blog update post of the year, let me run you through some upcoming plans so I can share what I’m working on currently. I have decided to enter the cosplay competition at Overload in April. I haven’t entered it since 2014 because they changed one of the entry criteria to – your entry must originate from some sort of Japanese media- and I’m just not that clued up on anime and the like. But now that it’s the only sizable competition in NZ (RIP Geddon contests) it’s that or nothing, as sadly I can’t afford to travel to the smaller town conventions/competitions.
Which brings me around to what I’ve to decided to make for my entry. I’m actually remaking the first costume I ever made in 2008 – Cardcaptor Sakura’s red dress. So far I’ve finished the understructure for the skirts (a combination hoop skirt/petticoat), the white underdress, a Kero plush that sits on your shoulder and a Clow book. I’ll have my usual YouTube construction videos about these posted to my channel in the coming weeks.

I’ve also been trying to get through my horde of duvets I’ve collected for upcycling over the years. So far I’ve managed to finish two dresses – a Disney princess one and a Minnie Mouse one. I have been making these in between waiting for fabrics and things to arrive for my Sakura costume.

And that’s what you’ve missed this month. Next week I’ll be continuing with Sakura and potentially starting a Sailor Scout costume depending on how much I get done.
So, see you then!
