My apologies first of all for not updating for a while. I had to go away unexpectedly for a loved one’s funeral.
However, I’m back again and back in to browsing the secondhand stores for treasures.
First off, patterns!

I found a few cool ones. Simplicity 4080 and 8114 aren’t for anything in particular but are one’s I can see coming in handy in the future. Mcall’s 4681 I brought with the intention of making more Princess Disneybounds with. I mean, just look at the puffy sleeves! They’re begging to become a princess gown. Kwik Sew 1012 I liked the look of and could do with making myself a new swimwear set for summer as I don’t currently have anything that fits comfortably and isn’t a bikini which I’m not fond of wearing.
I also happened upon an entire brand new bolt of baby pink cotton fabric with the original Spotlight tag still attached.

Ariel’s pink gown has been on my remake list for some time and I think this would be perfect for it. I’m going to try and make it from mostly thrifted fabrics so now I’m on the look out for some nice white/cream bed sheets/tablecloths/fabric etc.
The absolute coolest thing I found this week was this kid’s Cinderella costume.

I brought it so I could send it down to my niece and it wasn’t until I was in the car that I realized it was reversible and had a whole other costume on the inside – her peasant dress. I got it for an absolute steal too, $5 for a lot that included patterns and a Sims 3 expansion pack. I’m only a tiny bit jealous that I’m not little enough to wear it myself.
I picked up another Harry Potter flying keys bed sheet with the intention of turning it into another vintage style dress. I have two of these now so that means multiple sizes.

And finally for the secondhand treasures section of the week, The Zonta book fair came in to town. While I picked up many books for myself (including an American first edition of Breaking Dawn), I got two pretty neat sewing related ones.

Basic Millinery Illustrated and Disney Knits. I’m hoping to foray in to hat making eventually because I’d love to be able to make Beauxbatons hats in the future and this book has everything I could hope to learn about hat making. The Disney Knits book is wonderfully 80s and I’m still deluding myself that I’ll be able to knit this amazing things one day…
I finished a costume this week – Moana.

I’m entering her in to the a local Fashion show this month and prejudging is this weekend. My husband and I went to the beach and took some photos in the middle of winter, as you do. I’m really happy with how they turned out considering and I’ll be posting the whole album on here sometime this week.
I also finished my YouTube video of the making of process if you want to check that out.
I started designing my own tarot card set this week due to searching for a while now and not finding one that gelled with me. I wanted something Art Nouveau style and cute so I ended up sketching up a whole Disney inspired set. I finished Tinkerbell aka the High Priestess first and am currently working on Tempest next.

Super pleased with the results so far especially considering it’s been a long while since I’ve digitally drawn anything. Here’s hoping I complete the whole set because I’d love to get a physical deck printed.
Finally,
This week I’m beginning work on my big project for the upcoming Auckland Armageddon Expo. I’m remaking my Sarah gown from Labyrinth. I’m hoping to enter the cosplay contest with it as well. So we shall see how that goes.
I’m still waiting on some fabrics and embellishments to arrive but I am aiming to at least finish the panniers this week.
So that’s it for another week. It’s looking like it’s going to be a busy few months ahead for me!
Thanks for all your continued support in what I’m doing here and I’ll see you all next week.
