A Year of Costumes | 2025

I made way too many corset related costumes this year. Purely by accident.

Valerie | Pokémon X and Y

My anime build for the Overload costume competition this year. I had a lot of stupid little things go wrong when making this, which caused me to not love it as much as I thought I would. I didn’t even get to try the completed outfit on until the day of the competition. Speaking of, I did manage to win Best in Show so it can’t have been that bad.

Anna | Frozen

The first deviation from my plans was Anna’s outfit from Frozen. My friend, (also named Anna) was making Elsa to wear to the Winter Armageddon expo, so I semi surprised her by making this Anna to match!

Although Frozen isn’t my favorite of the Disney films, I do adore Anna’s wardrobe. This was so fun to make and incredibly warm.

Look out for more Anna costumes in the future!

Mary Poppins + Bert | Mary Poppins

Made just in the nick of time for Sandbox Fandom Fest 2025. I have accidentally committed to making a new Disney costume each year for this convention after making Mirable for it for the previous year.

I decided on Mary because I’ve had the hats for it stuck on my wall for ages now.

Charli XCX | Powerpop Girls

This came about after I joking said to Anna on the drive down to Winter Armageddon, that we should do a Powerpop Girls group (like the Powerpuff Girls) after listening to copious amounts of Chapel Roan and Sabrina Carpenter.

I settled on Charli XCX as she’s my favourite of the current pop girls. This was a recreation of her Grammy’s outfit, one of my favourite looks of hers from the year.

Frodo Baggins | Lord of the Rings

This was actually a costume planned for next year (2026) with Anna as Sam. But I’d already started gathering fabric from fabric-a-bracs when Armageddon announced Elijah Wood as a guest for their Spring expo. An expo I hadn’t been planning to attend until that moment.

So I brought the making of forward a year and it turned out to be one of my most fun to wear costumes ever.

Harley Quinn | The Suicide Squad

I hadn’t planned to make this dress at the start of the year, but I was stuck waiting for more fabric to arrive for my Charli XCX costume before I could progress any further with it and then happened upon the red sequin fabric for this one, locally and for really cheap. So naturally, I started a whole new costume while waiting for more fabric in the post. That, and I found the perfect vintage military leather boots in my size at the second hand store.

I also had a go at making the javelin myself this time, something I only bothered to poorly photoshop in to my old version.

Barbie | Barbie

This one was a total accident. I went to my Aunties dress up birthday party earlier in the year as Beach Barbie and Ken with my husband. I then mentioned how fun the costumes were to wear together and how we should totally wear them to the Friday of Armageddon.

It was then that I remembered I had brought another sheet set years ago to remake the Perfect Day dress with so that’s what I did.

I didn’t film any of the process because originally, I was going to make it exactly the same way I had made my old one, until I discovered I’d done the pleated skirt part the wrong way. I ended up doing so much of it significantly differently that it would have been worth making a new video of after all.

A really quiet year in terms of costume making for me. I think it’s been a few years since I’ve made so little. This time I don’t even have the excuse of having a Disney trip planned. Oh well. Here’s hoping that I get a fair bit more done next year.

Let me know which was your favourite! Mine was my new Harley for sure.

Be sure to look out for my 2026 plans post, coming soon too!
