construction
I love a costume where I don’t have to alter a patter whatsoever, it’s always such a nice change to the frakensteining I usually find myself doing.
I used the Simplicity pattern – 8434 and using a combination of black and red stretch velvet, I made the suit and boot covers exactly as the pattern called for. The collar was also made following the pattern, from some white fabric I had in my stash. I finished the ends with white pom poms.
I think the gloves were made using the Yaya Han McCall’s pattern – M7397. Looking back on it, I think I made them wrong because they were really small. I don’t think I checked what seam allowance they called for and just did the standard 1.5cm.
The cuffs were kept from my old pleather Harley suit.
The hat was two Santa hats, one red and one black, sewn together to create a double ended one.
